4Ocean: Bali

October 2018

In October 2018, 4Ocean sent me to Bali to create a video with the goal of shedding a light on the pollution problem in North of Bali. 4Ocean is a company that creates bracelets made out of recycled plastics. For each bracelet purchased, they pull 1 pound of garbage out of the water. The 4Ocean team in Bali took me on one of their beach cleanups which happens everyday from 3-8pm on Batu Bolong Beach in Canggu. My job was to document them doing this to show the world the work that 4Ocean is doing.

The next day they took me to North West of Bali, in the city on Jembrana where we went on 2 traditional Balinese boats down the river collecting garbage. I was shocked to see the amount of garbage in those rivers as well as how the locals reacted to all that garbage. One of the 4Ocean members was in tears when he told me that the reason why he is cleaning up these rivers is so that his future children can play in the river like he used to when he was a kid. I am so glad that I got to be apart of this life changing experience.
